Nüart Gallery presents Bedding Plane, a solo exhibition featuring new work by Anne Kaferle. The exhibition will run June 15 through July 6, 2024 with an opening reception on Saturday June 15 from 4 - 6 pm.

Bedding Plane is a solo exhibition with new work by artist Anne Kaferle. In this featured exhibition, Kaferle continues her painterly exploration of an erosional desert landscape by way of both intimate plein air and larger-scale works.  ‘Bedding plane’ is a geologic term that refers to a boundary surface separating two layers of sedimentary rock layers that contrast in grain size or color. It is a hidden ocean floor made visible in stone, a faithful record of an environmental shift demarcating distinct “before” and “after” time periods.

In her work, Kaferle employs mineral pigments that flow and settle under gravity’s influence, emerging as color-field paintings that capture the essence and fluidity of the natural world. These works, rich with velvety textures and vibrant tones, reflect the mutable landscapes they depict—each piece a testament to the constant, inevitable forces of change shaping our planet.
