As part of the Getty’s PST program, bG Gallery is pleased to present "Discoveries," an exhibition featuring innovative works from contemporary artists whose creations are influenced by scientific advancements and technological innovations. They celebrate human ingenuity and technological progress while provoking critical reflections on the intersections of the human body with technology, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
The exhibition includes works by Ibuki Kuramochi, Harshit Aggarwal, Susan Moss, Gay Summer Rick, Allison Woods, Philip Vaughan, Jack Reilly and Gregory Horndeski. "Discoveries" honors technological progress and also challenges viewers to consider its broader implications. Through this dialogue, the exhibition underscores the potential of art to inspire and inform, making it a transformative experience for all attendees.Gay Summer Rick’s paintings explore aviation and engineering technology and its relationship to LA's coastal environment. Susan Moss addresses climate change science through her sweeping abstractions. Ibuki Kuramochi explores post-feminist concepts through technology and performance art, while Allison Woods utilizes data visualization in her creations. Philip Vaughan incorporates neon innovation and engineering principles into his dynamic sculptures, and Gregory Horndeski delves into breakthrough theories in theoretical physics.
