Tracey Sylvester Harris's paintings speak to the central issues of human existence: desire and loss, impermanence and beauty, and the many dimensions of our connections with others. In her exhibition Golden Glamour, Harris presents a dazzling, iconic vision of the female form that merges the past with the present. Her inspiration derives not just from the Classic Age of Hollywood, but also from everyday glamour that perhaps goes unnoticed. In Sunshine Girl and Summer, golden sunlight surrounds figures relaxing in the summer air. In Special Occasion and Cocktail Hour, warm interior lighting touches the shiny hair and jewelry of women dressed for special occasions. The women are mysterious and beautiful, forever enjoying a golden, glamorous moment. Golden Glamour is Tracey Sylvester Harris's sixth one-person exhibition with Skidmore Contemporary Art. Her work is in numerous private and public collections, including five Delta Airlines Skyclub Lounges in the United States.
