"Open Floor Plan: Wearable Architecture and Functional Design
Gallery of Functional Art and Lois Lambert present Chris Francis’ “Open Floor Plan: Wearable Architecture and Functional Design”.
For this collection many of the shoes will focus upon features of interior design and architecture. These sculptural objects are successful models and proto-types, each a visible thought process. They stand as a question to the viewer "Why does every shoe need to be comfortable? Why does every shoe need to compare to those seen in shoe stores? Can a shoe just exist as a concept and as a work of art alone?
"Toy Box Confidential"
Lois Lambert Gallery presents “Toy Chest Confidential” a collection of assemblages by artist Gavin Scott. Scott creates sculptures utilizing a blend of antique and contemporary toys and other mass-produced cultural artifacts to capture fantasy and a playful narrative in large-scale mechanical dioramas. His sculptures highlight the wonder and imagination, usually reserved for childhood, that every adult
longs to revisit.
Phyllis Kudder Sullivan
"Vortex with Gold Line Series"
Lois Lambert Gallery presents "Vortex with Gold Line Series" a collection of Sculptures from artist Phyllis Kudder Sullivan. For the past 25 years Phyllis Kudder Sullivan has developed and honed the technique of interlacing clay coils to construct organic forms whose undulating “woven” walls completely envelop the inner space. Her fabrication method brings an over-and-under system associated with weaving of textiles into the third dimension.
