Frank Paulin (1926-2016) was a fashion artist and photographer, primarily recognized for his intimate photographs of New York City in the 1950s.
His photographic work combines a keen sense of timing and composition, to grab an image while keeping a sense of tenderness and a feeling of the moment.
Paulin was schooled at the legendary Institute of Design in Chicago after WWII, where he studied under László Moholy-Nagy and Harry Callahan.
His photographs are in the permanent collections of notable museums, including Museum of Modern Art, NYC; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI; and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA.
